One of the most stupendous initiatives towards a greener and more sustainable lifestyle is the advent of electric vehicles (EVs)! With smarter technologies and corresponding solutions popping up every day, the automotive industry hasn’t lagged either. Moreover, the revolution with respect to tech is also roping in the automotive. As a result, the electric vehicle domain has been growing by leaps and bounds with every passing year!

Another exciting bit is the growing demand for EV charging apps. Yes! Whatever you read just now is all true and isn’t a far-fetched idea from a sci-fi movie.

“Greener cars” are in high demand. Consequently, the charging infra is required too — apps aid in finding that only. Clearly, you are intrigued and wish to know more as you have come this far. So, be happy, as the required and almost every important piece of information related to EVs is in this blog post — so, let’s get started!!

Decoding E-vehicles!

E-vehicles or EVs are automobiles that are partially or fully fuelled through electric power. As a result, they have relatively low running costs as they require less maintenance and are environmentally friendly too.

Since they operate on electric power and use very little or no fossil fuels (petrol or diesel), they don’t produce harmful pollutants. While some EVs use nickel-metal hybrid or lead-acid batteries, the major reliance is now on lithium-ion batteries.
The reasons for switching to or opting for the latter are their fantabulous energy retaining capacity, greater longevity and a self-discharge rate of only 5% every month!

Undoubtedly, such modes of transportation are impressive and sustainable in the long run, but they, too, like other products, also have a few shortcomings. For instance, the batteries of such cars experience thermal runaway. The same has caused fires, explosions, etc., too! Of course, efforts are going on to find tangible solutions to these challenges.

There are three kinds of EVs — battery-electric, hybrids and fuel cell. Hybrids have two different sub-categories: HEV (Hybrid) and PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid).

A little something about the charging infra

When one owns an EV, there are some important aspects that follow. The most important of them is taking care of the charging process — how you would ensure it for your electric car. WHY? Because such an automobile needs electricity to get charged and drive the rider to the set limit.

One of the problems with E-cars is their limited drive range and as a result, they need to be charged at frequent intervals. Therefore, the owner has to take various steps at several charging stations that allow them to charge their vehicle for the next run.

Of course, the required infrastructure exists, but it is scattered across a particular state. Because of this scattering, it is not as easy to locate these stations and here apps offer a helping hand! They are designed to help the users to find the nearest EV charging stations. In addition, they also provide the best-suited route that saves energy and enable users to reach the charge point.

So, there are good enough reasons to switch to this sustainable and non-polluting option, right!!

What about carbon emissions while using them?

So, recently REG (Radiant Energy Group) compared gas emissions caused by a conventional gasoline vehicle and from the charging of an electric vehicle. This study used a Tesla Model 3 driven to 100 kilometers for an EV. The findings are as follows:

- Nations using more EVs use a lot of nuclear, hydroelectric and solar power.

- EVs in Kosovo and Poland lead to increased carbon emissions because their electric system depends majorly on coal!

- In European countries, EVs resulted in reduced carbon emissions. This is so because the carbon emission depends on the time of the day the vehicle gets charged and also on which energy source supplies electricity systems!

- The countries saving the maximum carbon from EVs rely majorly on nuclear and hydroelectric power on stations that charge such vehicles.

- Switzerland made 100% carbon savings over gasoline automotive. It was followed by Norway at 98%, France at 96%, and Sweden and Austria at 95% and 93%, respectively.

- Cyrus and Serbia saved the lowest — 4% and 15%, respectively.

- On the other hand, an e-car driver in Germany was found to reduce GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions by 55% over a gasoline car. This is the case because Germany uses a mix of coal and renewable energy to produce electricity.

- Spain could also save more because of its reliance on solar power.

Drawing conclusions from the findings mentioned above, it can be concluded that amount of carbon emissions saved by driving an EV majorly depend on the time of the day at which it is being charged. Solar and wind energy play a crucial role in reducing c-emissions, but they do not add to a nation’s electricity system homogeneously throughout the day!

A crypto payment app is also under construction!

Extreme Vehicle Battery Technologies, a Canadian battery technology developer, is on its way to developing an EV crypto payment app for smartphones.

The primary function of this application will be to allow users to personalise their EV power requirements. It will be around the corresponding infrastructure and to enable people to make seamless payments using cryptocurrency! This way, paying for the EV charging requirements can be made faster and hassle-free.

The company is well-aware of the recent surge in cryptocurrencies. The team at Extreme Vehicle Battery Technologies intends to bank on the same and believes it will be attractive to customers. And to support this development, the firm has entered into a share exchange agreement. This has been done to acquire blockchain-based crypto app — Smart Command application. It has been designed to enable personalised and seamless usage. Its intention is to bring in customer control and flexibility to track energy movement for accurate measurements of costs!

How can app development work for such modes of transportation?

For now, apps are needed for EV charging station finding purpose. Since the charging infrastructure for EVs is still under-construction and the existing structures are less and scattered, so, apps become a necessity!

EV charging stations are still very less in number and that’s precisely why even the biggest businesses wish to create EV charging station finder applications. Such tools make finding charging points easier and enable users to make payments directly through that app.

Nowadays, EVs come in different shapes and sizes. And different e-automobiles have different charging sockets. So, this problem is also tackled by an EV charging finder app — that help find charger stations compatible with different EV models. They help in locating the nearby charging station without any hassle and help users drop the tension of finding the right stations for e-cars!

A quick wrap-up!!

Diligent efforts bear fruits in the most beautiful manner — electric cars are a result of the same diligence, perseverance, consistency and hard work. They are not simply a wonderful technology helping us ride to work, home or other places, but is a powerful tool to help us conserve crucial resources for the future generations!

Without a doubt, such automobiles are here to help us in the most efficient and sustainable way possible. What can we do as humans?
Compliment such vehicles with corresponding apps that can help find the nearest charging stations — we need both electric automotive and EV car apps for being efficient and considerate towards mother nature!

So, let’s give back to the environment we have reaped so much from!!
